Yogaia Peace Yoga - Merritt Swenson Merritt Swenson
Registered Yoga Instructor YogaiaPeace Center In 1985 Merritt began her yoga studies with Wellspring Yoga’s Mary Frances Weathersby. She enthusiastically shares the wisdom gained through her personal exploration of the inner path of yoga, extensive studies in metaphysics, and an intimate connection with nature. Merritt established the Yogaia Peace Center as a peace “movement,” teaching others to integrate the principles of yoga with our connection to the living spirit of earth, (Gaia). Underlying her work is the commitment to being a vessel of peace by teaching others to EMBODY peace through healing, yoga, and meditation. Merritt Anne Swenson, RMT, nationally certified yoga instructor, founder of YogaiaPeace and YogaiePeace Yoga, healer and teacher, has accepted a personal call to share with others what she has learned along her journey of exploring the inner path of yoga and her intimate connection with nature and the night sky. She began her yoga studies in Texas in 1985. There was a growing spiritual community in San Antonio, Wellspring Chrism, and the flowering of yoga. She stumbled onto this path with her first yoga/meditation session with Wellspring's founder, Mary Frances Weathersby. "MF" (Mary Frances) introduced Merritt to yoga, mantra, chanting, meditation, Bhakti, the teachings of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, community, and a life long friendship. Yet, about this same time, soon after the birth of her third child she encountered a mystical experience that truly ignited this path of exploration and service. That and subsequent mystical experiences taught her about the power of prayer and that nature and the night sky are amongst our greatest resources and teachers. Yoga background Merritt considers her yoga background to be eclectic with her first yoga teacher certification from The Yoga House in Austin, TX, 1996 and then with Lex Gillam and Ray Lyn Rath, The Yoga Institute in Houston. She has since studied and taken workshops from various teachers including John Friend, Gary Kraftsow, Rod Stryker, Angela Farmer and Victor Von Kopen, Eric Schiffmann and the YogaYoga teacher training staff in Austin. She continues to enjoy yoga workshops whenever possible and maintains the attitude that we are all teachers to each other and we will all continue to be students as a lifelong path. Merritt is nationally certified with Yoga Alliance as a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) in addition to an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 200). Healing/bodywork background and certifications Interwoven in this yoga path has been a keen interest in healing.
